Office XP activation

I am running Office XP Professional 97,
on Win 7 64bit.

It developed problem, so I uninstalled it.

After reinstalling it , it failed Internet activation and no telephone activation number is listed.

Other than reinstall it every 50 uses, is there a fix ?
I do have, and occasionally use, Open Office.
But for various reasons, I really would like to continue using
Office XP Professional 97.
Any Ideas?

I thought Office XP was the first Office version to require activation. Was it the optional product registration that failed?

I don't think you have Office 97 --

Office XP = Word 2002, Excel 2002, etc.

Office 97 = Word 97, Excel 97, etc.; this version did not require activation

I have no idea how I labeled this disk as office 97, it is Office XP = Word 2002, Excel 2002, etc.
