    animated gif (FP 2000)

In a beginning FrontPage 2000 class of 8 (most computers running Win 98, a couple Win ME), everyone followed the same directions for inserting an animated gif (Insert, Picture, Video). For 5 people the procedure worked as it should. For the other three (including one pc that had JUST been reformatted and w/ Windows & Office reloaded), the static gif is displayed in Normal view, but in Preview there is the little picture placeholder, not even the picture.
I'm not good enough to trouble-shoot. Where should I start looking for the reason? Thanks so much.

If I use Insert, Picture, Video... I do not automatically get the option to insert GIF files, but I can change the drop-down file filter to do it. My preview shows a placeholder. The <IMG> tag says dynsrc=filename instead of src=filename. I don't know why this doesn't work on my computer, but it also isn't the way I think it was meant to work. Try using Insert, Picture, From File... instead. This creates a very traditional <IMG> tag that works fine with both animated and non-animated GIF files. Might be best to reserve the Insert, Picture, Video... option for motion video files.

That certainly worked. Thank you very much!
