Connecting a laptop to an HDTV wirelessly

Sometimes I want to use my HDTV as my computer monitor to surf the internet. I do this by connecting the laptop to my TV by HDMI cable. This works well, but as my TV isnít that close I have to take the laptop to the TV, plug in the HDMI cable to the laptop and TV, then plug the laptop into a nearby power outlet. Itís a simple enough process, but an absolute nuisance having to lug stuff around and fiddle with connectors (OK, Iím lazy!).

I know itís possible to make this connection by wi-fi, but finding out what I need to do eludes me. The more I look online the more confused I become. There must be a simple solution that even a dummy in this area can understand! I looked at media streamers but these donít seem able to show all web content that I can see using an HDMI cable.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated, especially bearing in mind that I live in Australia where US solutions may not be appropriate or available.

    Thanks

You need wireless remote control from your TV to the PC. This would require an app on the TV that can handle the high video rates - I doubt such a thing exists, you may have to use the sneakernet approach.
