    Word 2010 Section Numbering

I have someone who is trying to define a Section heading to say SECTION 1.0 and have it centered. We can get the SECTION 1.0, but only the 1.0 is centered. If we trying just typing SECTION and then adding a 1.0 heading, Word will switch the 1.0 in front of SECTION. I have exhausted my ideas on this - any clues how we can get it to work correctly?

You need to start with a solid grasp of using the heading styles linked to the numbering styles.
See Shauna Kelly's page on this subject. You can format these to be centered and to have the word Section before the number.

    Hi,

Use the paragraph style that is linked to the number level to center the line, instead of the autonumber formatting (in other words, change the number alignment back to "left").
