    Excel Data Validation

I'm trying to limit user inputs in selected cells to some value which would exclude text (like letter "o" instead of zero "0") or spaces or other nun-numeric characters. For my purposes, any value is fine, but I'm expecting a value.

I'm trying to set up Data Validation to eliminate errors caused by a user "spacing out" (deleting by overwriting with a space instead of a zero).

I see that Data Validation-Settings-Validation Criteria-Allow defaults to Any Value. Is that any "numeric value" or just "anything"? My testing with Any Value seems to allow non-numeric characters.

How do I use Data Validation to limit user entry to numbers?

Set up a Custom condition with the formula as: =isnumber(a1)
Of course replace A1 with the cell containing the validation rule.
