    New USB devices are not recognised

    New USB devices such as external HDD's , memory sticks are not being recognised properly by Windows 7 x64

    They show up in device manager as unrecognised device

    Have tried copying over usbstor.inf and .sys from driver cache , deleting upper and lower filters, uninstalling device from Dev manager ... HELP!

    1. Try going to Device Manager and deleting all your USB controllers. Reboot and windows should reinstall them.
    2. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers installed.
    3. If this is a recent problem, try a system Restore to a date prior to the problem.
