I have a laptop with windows xp.

I got my son an older laptop with windows xp on it. i have broadband internet through my cable company xfinity. the old modem went out it was a motorola surfboard modem with wifi. the new modem had to have a router with wireless capability. ok that all said the windows xp laptop will not connect to the wifi now. it keeps saying that it is validating the certificate. i cannot find how to get it to validate the certificate if anyone can help me please do cause i dont want my 16 yr old on my laptop LOL. thanks for any help that anyone can give me

Make sure that the laptop supports the wireless encryption method you've setup in the router.

well the funny thing that i forgot to mention that we had it on the new wireless router and it connected for a couple of days. it still read validating certificate but he was surfing the web. then he shut it down and the next day it wouldnt connect and hasnt connected ever since.

i turned off off the enable ieee 802.1x authentication for this network. sometimes the easiest answers elude me LOL.
