I just shut off the (Stupid) Auto Updates so I don't have to deal with all the problems.
The last time I got any updates for XP, they trashed my OS and I had to resort to restoring a Ghost backup
to get my computer running right again.
The conspiracy theorists are saying that MS is deliberately sending out BAD updates for XP, trying to force
people to buy a newer OS. Millions of people, World Wide, still using XP are cutting into MS's bottom line. (profits)
I even had an auto update screw up Win-8/DP, which I'm testing. I've now shut off Auto Updates for that OS.
Accept MS updates, at your own peril. Or, just make a backup of your C: drive, before taking updates.
