Hardware scan buttons and Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on Canon MX870

    I'm going crazy here!

I have a Canon MX870 multi-function scanner, copier and fax machine that I just can't get the scan buttons to work!

I've downloaded every driver there is on the canon web site.

When I hit the scan button, it says "set PC to scanning" .

When I load the MPNavagor EX, it does communicate with the machine software wise, just not via the buttons..

    Any ideas?

Scanners with buttons usually require software in addition to the driver to make the buttons work. This software will load at boot-up and usually places an icon in the system tray (notification area in Win 7). I don't know how old your scanner is but if the CD that came with it is Win 7 compatible what I would do is completely uninstall everything you have installed, including the drivers via Device Manager if necessary and then reinstall using the CD, installing everything, remembering not to connect the scanner until told to do so by the installation software.
