Memory Question About Dell Optiplex GX 270

    Hi,
On my Dell Optiplex GX 270, the manual says you can install up to 4GB in the machine. I did that but in the Control Panel/System, it tells me only 3.62GB is installed. I installed 4 1GB memory cards.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

That's normal as the BIOS will reserve some of your memory for integrated graphics and other functions.

If the OS is a 32 bit version, then it cannot read a full 4 gig's of ram.
It can only read three point something. (the exact number eludes me at present)

I'm currently running XP 32bit, and I have six (6) gig's of ram installed. When I look
in 'System' in the control panel, it says I have three gig's. No surprise there!

    Happy Holidays!
