Question Left side of messages missing on Outlook e-mails

I am using outlook 2010 - I have a business contact using 2007 (I don't think this is connected). When he sends me forwarded email messages the content of the previous message disappears off to the left hand side of the message window - it means I cannot read the first three or four characters of each line of the message.

It is almost as if the forwarded part of the messages are images - and they have been cropped.

He cannot find out why this is happening - and it is driving me slowly mad?

    Can anyone offer any help?

    Many thanks

This might sound a bit simple but are you sure he is not just sending emails that are formatted wider and your Outlook is dropping them?

Ask him to send a brand new message and see what happens and report back please.

If he checks his sent items, does the email look OK?

Is it HTML or plain text?

Have you modified any email template?

Is your Outlook up-to-date with service packs and patches?

    Do you use Exchange server?

Mandarin - thank you for your reply - I tried that - and his laptop is not formatting them wide at all. If he sends a 'virgin message' with no forwarded content it reads perfectly well, it is only the content of the forwarded portion of the message that falls off the left hand side of the message pane ?

Joe PO517 - The emails look fine in his outlook - and they are HTML. I have an up to date freshly installed 2010, and yes - I do use an exchange server.

What version of Exchange server? Have you contacted the Exchange admin?

I see this problem all the time. It happens when I get a forwarded message and/or from an apple product. the fix has been to highlight the text, copy it, remove the formatting, deleting and then paste or just paste into wordpad /ms word/new message window. The forward formatting is the problem
