How to Modify User Account Control Settings

    Hello group,

New Win7 box, got it up and running the end of November. This 'Security' stuff is new to me. Is there a way to 'Whitelist' programs? Here is what I mean, in User Account Control Settings I have it set to "Notify me only when programs try to make changes... (do not dim my desktop)." This is the second from the bottom on the slider.

Every time I start Corel Quattro Pro X5 it stops and asks me if 'qpw15.exe' can make changes to my computer, and there are . I always answer Yes, but is there around this tedium? I use Vipre firewall and in that I can set which programs are always allowed through the firewall. I would like this same ability with the Win7 security.

    Thanks,

Hello Robert and welcome to the Lounge!

Check out this thread on Windows7Forums. The post about using Task Scheduler to run your most used software looks promising.

But this How To Geek tutorial looks even better. It should work in Windows 7 just as well.

    Thanks Deadeye,

The instructions from the 'howtogeek' guys looks easy enough for even me to follow.
