    Registry Advice

    Hi Loungers,

As their seems to be so many attempting to interfere with the Registry, and not knowing what their doing, be it information from others who give advice 'Good or Bad', or just through ignorance. I put this together in the hope it will prevent disasters. Registry Tools.zip

I appreciate your efforts getting this tool to work, but please advise me of exactly what your program does?

    Hi Gloria,
Everything is explained in either of the files I posted including details of the person who made it.

I see that the 'Registry Tools' mainly tells how to use Erunt and NTREGOPT, which I've used for years.

Up through Win-7, I use a simple script to force a new System Restore point to be created. I run that script from the Startup folder for a daily backup of the registry.
That script however, does not work on Win-8/DP, for whatever reason. Erunt does work in Win-8.
I installed it yesterday and it promptly made a registry backup.

After doing any registry maintenance, I've always used NTREGOPT to re-compress the registry.
When I de-installed Office 2007 from my HD, I cleaned the registry and then used NTREGOPT to compress it and it decreased the size of the registry by 30 megabytes.
These are old established programs that work very well and very Safely.

    Cheers Mates!
