Windows 7 shortcut (CTRL+ALT+Down) overrides application hotkey

One of my applications uses CTRL+ALT+Down as a standard shortcut (which I frequently used on my old Vista system). Now in Windows 7 this shortcut is assigned to "Move window down" (ie. turn it on its head). How can I make sure that my application shortcut is used in the application? I wouldn't mind deactivating this upside-down Windows 7 shortcut altogether.

Try using AutoHotKey for that. I haven't used it, but a bit of reading on this issue always ended with a reference to AutoHotKey.

Hmmm... I suspect that shortcut is not a Windows 7 native shortcut, but a shortcut supplied by your graphics card manufacturer. This means an easier solution would simply be disabling the shortcut keys in that app (can it be an Intel based graphics card? - I have one in my laptop and it does allow disabling the shortcuts).

I agree with ruirib. Ctrl Alt Down on my Windows 7 PC performs the same action as Down (move down one line).

Thanks guys! It was the graphics card (and yes, it's an Intel :-). I disabled the Intel shortcuts, and have my own hotkey back. Issue solved.

The Windows "any" key is just to the left of your ESC Key !
