    Windows updates

I have recently migrated from XP to Windows 7 and have a problem with updates. I get messages asking me to install "important updates" which turn out to be for programs I do not have, like Office 2010. I "deselect" them and click OK but the message keeps coming up. With XP I was able to tick a box to indicate that I did not want to be asked again to install those updates but I can find no way of doing that in Win 7 - is there a way.

    Mike,

Even though you don't have Office 2010 you may have things like the PowerPoint Viewer installed and this will trigger some Office 2010 updates.

If you truly do not have any of the viewers or any other components, if you right click an offered update, you can select to hide it, in which case you will not be offered it again unless you unhide it (by using the link to the left to see all hidden uodates).

I have recently migrated from XP to Windows 7
Is this a software upgrade, or a new computer (with trialware)??

    Updates

Thanks - I never thought to right-click - it works. It is a new computer without an operating system - I bought and installed Windows 7, thus there are no pre-loaded programs.
