Charts when legend doesn't contain all data

    Excel 2007 SP2
    Chart based on table
Table header contains the legend titles
For 5 series displayed on the chart there are only 4 series included in the legend.

The workaround I have is to remove the series from the chart data,
    OK the change
return to chart data and add the series back in.

that brings the series title back into the legend but seems to be 'long winded'
    thanks

I can't say I've seen that before - I assume the legend was large enough to display all the items before?

I am seen this issue when the legend box (as Rory mentions) needs to be enlarged. It seems to occur when one of the the new legend items added is wider than the legend, making the lines wrap. The legend spacing is the same for all legends so if one wraps and gets wider, they all will. If they widen enough, the last few items are outside the lower frame. Making the legend wider so no wrapping is required generall will fix it, but sometimes making it taller can also help.
