    Mergefield Date Dilemma

    HELP!
I have just spent the last 6 hours scouring the web for an answer to my problem but everything I try fails.

I have a mail merge document with a merge field called "LeaseTo". I want the merged document to show the "LeaseTo" date less 3 weeks i.e I want the letter to show the date 3 weeks before the "LeaseTo" date.

Can anyone tell me how to do this before I run out of hair, thank you (I'm using Word 2003)

I apologise if this has been asked before but everywhere I've seen something similar, the solution hasn't worked for me

It can be done, but given the vagaries of our calendar, it isn't easy. See Calculated Dates in Microsoft Word.

This is possibly easier to do by adding a field for this purpose to the merge source rather than trying to achieve it in the target document. Can you change the source data?

I've already read this several times & have just confused myself more. Does anyone have a 'Dummies' response or can they tell me exactly what to do, thank you

Did you try downloading DateCalc.zip? It has various calculated date fields that you could adapt.

    Hi cruisergirl,

Open the attached document, then copy the field there & paste it into your mailmerge document. The field code is taken from the 'Date and Time Calculations In A Mailmerge' topic in my Microsoft Word Date Calculation Tutorial, which you can download at:
    http://lounge.windowssecrets.com/ind...owtopic=249902
    or
    http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm#Third_party

Depending on your requirements, you may need to vary the output format. Details for doing that are in the tutorial.

I had already copied this into my mail merge document & when I merge I get a blank where the calculated date should be. I don't know what I am doing wrong but it just won't work for me
