    One desktop icon won't stay.

Just an irratation. Auto-arrange is off. I can move icons and they will stay there. Except one. I can move it and when I signon... there it is back to where it was. Grrr.

Any idea why this one guy won't stay put?

A few things to look at...

Icon spacing and how to modify.
Screen resolution: Check to see that your screen resolution isn't being changed after bootup or logon.
Ensure that the desktop theme you have chosen is static and not being modified by any other process or app.
Try removing the "sort by" option when it comes to desktop icons.
Check "align icons to grid" instead of "auto arrange icons".
Delete the offending icon, then reproduce it by going to the root folder and selct "send to desktop" with the icon in question.

Freeware that may be of help; This, this, or this.

You might want to remove some of your icons off the desktop to folders where you'll have finer control over them.
It may take some getting used to, especially if you have always had many icons on the desktop, but it may organize things considerably.

It's a bit unusual to have just one icon act up in this way.
Let us know if any of the above has helped.

I never had 'auto arrange' or 'Allign to grid' checked on. I did use a suggestion to create a new folder and put the 'loner' in there.
That seems to work. Must be something odd about that one icon.
