Do wifi signal boosters and directional antennas help WWAN reception?

I have a Lenovo X301 Thinkpad with a built-in WWAN card (Ericsson F3507g) and ATT service. I know that wifi signal boosters and directional antennas can improve wifi reception, but I'm not clear if they would also boost my ability to get ATT WWAN signals. Would they?

No, they won't. I have seen Vodafone sell a gadget to do that from GSM signals here in Europe, but don't know what's available in the US.
There are mobile network signal boosters, so a bit of searching will find options you can use.

The answer is, as always, it depends.
If you point the directional antenna at a nearby source you will get better reception, but if you are already in a good reception area it'll make almost no difference.

    cheers, Paul
