    Can't delete .wbk files

I have a large number of ancient Word back-up files on a disk I am trying to clean up. Can't do it. I can see them in File Manager, the size, the date, they are not Read Only files, but I get a message "Can't read from source file or disk." I don't want to leave them on the disk. Any suggestions?

Can you attempt to right click and Take Ownership of the files in question. You do not say which version of windows you have.

Add Take Ownership of Win 7/Vista Right Click context menu.

Add Take Ownership of Win XP Right Click context menu.
