Change multiple numbered paragraphs in one go

I have a document with about 5 pages of indented list all the way down to 6 indented numbered levels.

I know I can right click on one of the numbers and select adjust list indents and adjust within the dialogue box but I have to do this to each level.

Is there any way to do this to the word document by adjusting the indents on the ruler?

If I select one of the numbered levels, all the levels below turn grey representing what appears to be a grouping within that level.

If I now use the indents on the ruler it just indents the first number in the group and not them all.

Is there something I am missing or can this only be achieved thru VBA?

    Hi jrb,

If your paragraphs use an appropriate Style, simply changing the indenting in the Style will update all paragraphs based on that Style.

    Hi Paul,

If you don't mind leading me thru this. The document I have is something I copied from the web which already had the numbered list so I don't see a style. I have already manually adjusted the indents to this document to my likings, so can I now set this as a style to use later?

With a simple numbered list, you should be able to right-click the first number and then choose "Increase Indent" (rather than "Adjust List Indents"). In my tests, that changed the indents for all levels of the list.

    Does that work for you?
