Email Identity

I am running Win XP with Thunderbird as my Email client.

When I FORWARD an Email the recipient gets the message from : PAUL DONAGHY.
It should show as from PAT DONAGHY.

The only time I have used PAUL is when I have to show my name for an online credit card order.

All other Emails originated by me show as from PAT DONAGHY.

I have been all over the map trying to change this but NO JOY.

Any ideas most gratefully appreciated.

I think the answer may lie in the Config editor:

When you write a new message, Thunderbird uses the default identity for the account you are working in. When you reply to a message, Thunderbird uses the identity that matches the address the message was originally sent to, if it can find a match in the account you are working in. Otherwise it uses the default identity. Set mailnews.reply_to_self_check_all_ident to true using the Config editor if you want it to check the identities for all accounts when replying. (So, perhaps set to false for your situation?)

You can select any identity from any of your accounts when replying, forwarding or composing a new message by selecting it in the From drop down list box.

Did you click the Manage Identities button at bottom right of the dialog box in that screen shot?

Did you set mailnews.reply_to_self_check_all_ident to false in the Config Editor?

Thanx again Bruce. Took me awhile to find the config editor, and when I scrolled down to your link :
mailnews.reply_to etc. etc. my line shows under status - default, under type-boolean, under value-false.

And I had already done the Manage Identities thingy.

When you're forwarding an email, do you have a From drop down list box?

YEp and it shows my name as Pat Donaghy. No Paul in sight.

I sure wish I could, but the Tech took control of my computer and made some changes that were too quick for me to follow.
