    Problem viewing co-workers calendar (2000)

One of the co-workers in our office enters appointments on her calendar. They show up on her calendar but not for others to view in "Attendee Availability". She does not mark them private. I feel her settings must have gotten changed somehow but I can't seem to find the problem. Thanks to anyone out there for your help.

If the problem has not always been there, you might try starting outlook on her computer with the /CleanFreeBusy switch. (Start, Run then type: Outlook.exe /CleanFreeBusy)

I've also seen this show up when there was a problem with the mailbox on the Exchange server, or a problem with Exchange replicating free/busy between a host server and the primary site server.

I tried starting her computer with the /CleanFreeBusy switch. I received the error, "Cannot find file". So that didn't work. Anything else?

use the full file path to the outlook.exe - the quicklaunch toolbar shortcut version has the full patch and can be used.

Re: Problem viewing co-workers calendar (2000)

I think you'll have to type the full path to the exe, along with the switch.

On our systems that would read c:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe /CleanFreeBusy

It can be different, so you might want to run a find and get the actual path.

Another item to check is under Tools, Options, Preferences, Calendar Options, Free/Busy Options. I've had users publish "0" months to the server. <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15>

Re: Problem viewing co-workers calendar (2000)

OK, what am I doing wrong? I tried the full path C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe/CleanFreeBusy. This is the message: "Cannot find file. Make sure the path & filename are correct & that all required libraries are available." Is the "CleanFreeBusy" and extension? I don't know what I'm doing here but I can follow directions. Thanks.

If your path is an accurate representation of what you used, you are missing a space between Outlook.exe and /CleanFreeBusy.

use quotes and a space as so:
    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe" /CleanFreeBusy

Re: Problem viewing co-workers calendar (2000)

OK. I added a space between Outlook.exe and CleanFreeBusy. Doesn't work. "Cannot find file "C:Program (or one of its components)..."
    I used START>RUN>OPEN: C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe /CleanFreeBusy

    What next?

You may need quotes around the executable path/filename; i.e.,
    <hr>"C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeOutlook.exe" /CleanFreeBusy<hr>

Thanks! I tried that. No error message. I assume it worked. What was I actually doing? Cleaning? You can tell I know nothing!!

Re: Problem viewing co-workers calendar (2000)

I'm afraid I jumped into the middle of this thread, and I'm not terribly knowledgable about that switch. I can't find anything on it in the Help documentation. I am familiar with formatting command lines, that's why I offered to help. Maybe someone else can jump in here.

You might want to take a look at article Q197180 in the MS KB. It lists around a dozen switches that can help to fix problems with Outlook.

/CleanFreeBusy, as I understand it, deletes and regenerates the data needed to display this information.

Has the problem been fixed, then?
