    Unhappy knocked off again!

Is there some sort of time limit here? It's happened to me before but I just let it go. I was just reading a post & clicked on a screen shot but instead got the page that says something about not being allowed or log in, but I hadn't logged out. I had just been doing a lot of reading. I did go to my settings but can't find anything about a time limit.

    Thank you,
    grits

I think there is a glitch in the system. I at times see something similar. I will be going along reviewing and/or posting and all of a sudden I am told I am unable to post until I sign in, even though I might have just finished signing in. When this happens I usually copy what I have written, sign in again, then come back into the same thread and paste my post back into the same location I was attempting to place the post to start. I guess I have been lazy and have not written here about the problem prior to this. Perhaps one of our iNet people can check on this problem.

Same here, 'lazy', or so ticked off that it wasn't safe for me to post if you know what I mean , might not have been 'lady like language'

I know what you mean. I will send a message onward to see if this may be looked at in more detail.

The cookie/session timeout is 30 minutes, so if it takes you longer than 30 minutes to compose a message - or if you start typing, go get a coffee, then come back - it could be longer than 30 minutes since the last time you clicked a link. Each time a link is clicked the countdown resets. It could also be longer than 30 minutes if you browse, open a bunch of tabs, then spend a while reading.

It should help you avoid this if when you login, you place a checkmark in the "remember me" box before you click the login button.

Additionally, I just increased the timeout to 60 minutes rather than 30. That should also help avoid this issue.

Thank you Matt. Changing the timeout to 60 will definitely help me.

Don't be afraid to update this thread if you still notice issues - its possible there are ghosts in the machine, but initially it sounds like normal timeouts. I always use "remember me" and I never have trouble with getting logged out. It is important however that users accept cookies from windowssecrets.com and that you don't have any tools running that clean out cookies - that would log you out also. Cookies are how the site knows if you are already logged in or not.
