Rich Text E-mail I sent received as a .dat file. (MS Outlook 2000)

Hi. I sent a Rich Text Format E-mail from MS Outlook 2000 and it was received as a .dat file. The body of the e-mail contained text plus a table of numbers I cut and pasted from MS Excel. Does anybody there know what happened?

unless the other party uses outlook too, you need to send it as plain text. only outlook understands RTF formatting.
