    New Router Advice

Ok, I've read and read and can't decide which is the best router for the buck so I'm turning to those who know! Yes, that's you Loungers!

    Here's what I'm after.
    • A Gigabyte Dual Channel Wireless 802.11N router.
    • I'd like 8 physical ports but realize that will limit the field considerably and I've already got my eye on an 8 port GB switch to partner with the router.
    • Easy configuration is also high on my list.
    • Must support IPv6
    • Hardware Firewall
    • QOS settings

Did I miss any specs I should be looking for?

So, suggest away but please only with 1st hand experience.
May the Forces of good computing be with you!

I don't know if they're available in your area RG, but some of the Billion routers have a very good reputation.

I have a Linksys 4200e dual band 2.4/5.0 GHz wireless router. Works very well. Only has 4 physical ports, but does use both 2.4 and 5.0 bands simultaneously automatically. Can be had at Walmart for around $159

A tried and trusted Billion that fits most of your bill (only 4 Gigabit ports) and probably adds a lot more, checkout the reviews of it:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Billion-BiPA.../dp/B002TOKGL8
And lots of info on the Whirlpool AU site too.

    Satrow,

Looks good but does not seem to be available in the USA. Also it's an ADSL router and I'm on cable {although I'm not sure that matters}.

    Ted,

I've been leaning that way but wanted to get the overall take here first.

I found it on this site (out of stock right now) http://www.expansys-usa.com/billion-...ter-uk-182959/

..and I did read that Billion trade as BEC in the US ..if so, that site does have a 7800n: http://www.bectechnologies.net/pro-7800.htm

I got the Billion 7800n in early December and it's been a rock solid connection ever since. It can also be used for FTTC too.
