    Office 2000 (SR2)

I have a sticky mouse problem that I have been told is a problem with Office 2000. There are times when I have to really push the mouse around the screen and the problem does, in fact, seem to be limited to Office. Has anyone experienced this and does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks.

Before you try anything else, take the ball out of the mouse, and clean the 3 rollers thoroughly with a cotton tip and light soap and water. Remove the crud that accumulates on the rollers.

Thanks but I have done so - even though the computer is not 90 days old and the mouse came with it.

Windows ME and the mouse just says Gateway - came with the computer. I'll check the driver when I get home.

    Thanks

can you give a more complete explaination of the problem? also, check the mouse properties in the control panel, what drivers does the mouse use? I know there are issues with logitech drivers and office - including different issues if you use the ms drivers or the logitech driver. I'm not sure if gateway mice are standard ms mice or use special drivers too.

    Hi, CD.

Junk the mouse and get a decent one. Most of the new computers from Compaq, Dell and Gateway (at least) come with what I call $5.00 mice that are flimsy and next to worthless. I paid around $80.00 for an optical mouse (MS IntelliEye in my case) and it was worth every penny of it. I think most of the low end mice are manufactured by logitech, no matter what brand name is put on them.

    Hi, Charlotte!

Thanks for the advise. I will sure try it. I began to wonder if it could be the mouse as I have had a few other "low end" mice in the past that stuck like a fly to peanut butter!

    Thanks again.
