Word 2000: One label entry goes uppercase

My friend prints out labels each year. Half way through a sheet of labels, one label entry went to all-caps. I back spaced to that labels beginning. Still all caps. The uppercase started when he typed #A1 as part of an address. I typed an address in the next available label slot and it was OK. I backspaced the bad label to the beginning. I copied and pasted the new label I created to the bad label slot. The label was now OK and he was able to type normally in the "all caps" slot.

Most likely, the font was accidently formatted as all caps.
