@cavehomme, yes that thought crossed my mind too & that's why I asked the question here. The disgruntled fellow's comment was fairly recent but the others were too old for me to rely on.
@Hedgehog, thank you. I did start to install it but had a problem of sort so backed out to double check some things but did get a glimpse of it & it seems like I was disappointed, didn't look as much like O.E. as it did in a screenshot.

As far as I'm concerned this can be closed. I did get DreamMail installed, used it a bit but didn't find it to be comfortable so uninstalled it. Have pretty much been using Thunderbird even tho' I still don't like it. One biggie is that I always erase the previous names when forwarding but can't seem to get that done with T-Bird.
.
Thanks

If you want to substitute a mail program in Windows 7 for Outlook Express, use Windows Mail that came out for Vista. It is basically Outlook Express, upgraded a bit. I just enabled it in my Windows 7, so right now have WLM 2011 AND Windows Mail running in Windows 7. I have not stocked Windows Mail with my Outlook Express messages yet - will do that soon so I can give it a trial run. Windows Mail from Vista is in Windows 7 but disabled. However, if you go to the SevenForums website and follow instructions *precisely* you can easily make it work and use it instead of Windows Live Mail. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5481-windows-mail.html
Alternatively, Windows Live Mail 2009 is closer to Outlook Express than Windows Live Mail 2011. That said, the closeness is in the toolbar and how it works, not in the message system below the toolbar. The message system below the toolbar is set up with multiple inboxes just like WLM 2011, which for me is a very annoying feature since my "storage folders" are all below all my email account inboxes. I have been using only the "all inbox" and "all drafts" etc. in WLM 2011 which works fairly well, but it has the annoying "feature" of putting the Outbox near the bottom.

@Kelliann, I'm wondering if you tried DrWho's method as per your post # 17 in 'Please help - need recommendation for new e-mail, 1/31/12 , & if so, was it not as easy as the sevenforums method?
