Win7 PC can't see files in XP shared directory

I have a Windows 7 PC on a workgroup that is trying to see files that are shared on a Windows XP PC. I can see some of the other shared directories on that same PC, but not the other shared directories. Why would that be? I'm pretty sure I clicked the same shared settings. Since I'm seeing one directory fine then the connection is good between them. <confused>

There is a MS Hot Fix which needs to be applied to XP machines when they are in a Network with Win 7 machines. Here is another useful thread.

The first MS fix said that it didn't need it so it wouldn't install it. Again, what's strange is that other directories on the drive are shared, but not new ones with same settings. So, my PC can see the computer, just not the other directories....

Where specifically in the directory tree are the directories you can see? Are they in Public Documents? How about the ones you can't see where are they. Please specify full paths, i.e. C:\Users\UserId\Documents\....

The directory I can see is c:\123, but I can't see c:\abc nor C\: To me the settings look identical. The computer that those are on sees the directory, but they can't even see the data in the shared folder area.

Make sure all of the PC's are in the same "Workgroup" as apposed to the same "Homegroup" like Win 7 likes to work.
