    Record LogOn/Off (Excel 97)

I initially posed this problem in the Windows 98 forum. However, it may be more appropriate here.
I am keen to create a spreadsheet to record user logon and logoff time so that at tax time there is a record of hours used to support expenses claims.
Taking it a step further I also need to keep a record Online time i.e dialup to ISP and disconnect.
Is there someway a homeuser could write simple script to do this in the background?
I know that Network Admin and IT depts have the resources, what knowledge is required by a home enthusiast? Where does one start?
This topic does not seem to be covered in DIY books.

I think your best exposure would be in the Networking forum. But I know you can capture the time you start working with Excel by adding some code to the Personal.xls so that it would record the time you started Excel - that is the same time the Personal.xls workbook is loaded, and then the same at the end of the Excel session when you close Excel.

Now this may not account to crashes and things like when you stop using Excel and start using some other application, but with some creative VBA I guess you can approximate it.

The surfing time and others, well networking would be a better place to answer this.

Or - if you have Outlook this is a chance to use its' Journal feature.

I'm sure there is software (Shareware/Freeware) available for recording connect times and duration for dial-Up internet connections. Perhaps a post to Software Finds/Wants would yield some directions.
