    Macros and Icons

I have used MS Word since its beginning, and now with v. 2010 am trying to like the ribbon. In customizing it, I can't find certain commands, so am back to writing macros as I did in old versions. What I cannot find is a way to design my own icon to go with a new macro. Many graphics are offered, but I like to make my own that are more descriptive. Does anyone know how to do it?

You don't specify what tool you are using to edit the ribbon - this has a bearing on how you put in your custom images. Here are some links that might help you get started.

Thanks for the links. However, I'm going to have to check them out later -- there is too much to learn to even understand them!!! I can't go there yet . . .

As for what tool I am using -- Right now I am only trying to "Customize the Quick Access Toolbar". In old versions, when creating a macro, I could "modify" and create an icon.

Will save your info and see if I can sort it out later!

I believe if you add the macro and then click Rename it gives you an option to change the symbol.

Is this what you were looking for?

    Thanks!

Thanks, Ramona. I know I can Rename, then select an icon -- I have done that for some macros. What I want to do is create an icon (pixel by pixel!) when the supplied icons do not properly describe the macro. Maybe I'll figure it out some day!
