    Some updates fail

I have windows 7 home premium 64bit. Some updates will not install, I keep getting update failed. It all stared a few weeks back with KB 2644615 now two new updates have done the same thing, KB 2667402 and KB 2639308. I downloaded the windows update readiness tool, but that did not help. Microsoft then recomend that you do an upgrade with your installation disc, I tried that, everything went well untill the final bit after you put in your window key and fix all your settings. The computer froze on the final screen when I assume it is meant to boot up, I left it for 4 hours but it did nothing. I had to reinstall windows from a disc image(God bless you Acronis) Anyone got any ideas as to why most updates install but some won't, or do I just forget about them Don't really want to do the upgrade thing again and have the same problem.
    Cheers John.

Have you tried running sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt?

There is perhaps something in your system that does not allow the 2 or 3 updates. I have had that happen a couple of times as well. Usually it's with some optional updates. In this case I right click and choose Hide. Then I do not see the updates offered again.

I recreate my Images whenever I make changes to my system. I also believe Images are fantastic insurance for everyone.

    some updates fail

Thanks for the quick replies. I have tried sfc /scannow, see screenshot, it says verification phase 0% complete so not sure if it has worked. Ted, yes I did the same and hid the updates, but as they are critical ones I was not sure if they should be installed or that I could ignore them. But i'm with you on making images with Acronis.
