    Over Protected Document Word 2010

I have set a password for editing a Microsoft Word document and no one can edit it--not even me. How do I remove this password and restore the permissions to the default?

See if How to remove a password helps.

Thank you for your suggestion. The problem is that there is no chance to enter the password. I can open the document (so can anyone else)--I just can't edit it. I would like to remove the editing restriction and there doesn't seem to be any way to do so, once it's set.

The goal was to keep other people from accidentally editing the document, but I have locked myself out as well.

Hah! I've found the problem! There is a button that says Remove Protections at the bottom of the right hand of the screen. It was hidden by a pop up from another program. (Doh!) Once I removed the pop up I got to a dialogue box that would allow me to remove the editing restriction.

AhHah, one of the hazards of running everything full screen.
