    Run programs from active desktop?

Is it possible to run an application (Word, Excel, etc.) by setting up a link (URL?) from the Active Desktop? The "New Desktop Item" option does not seem to allow the starting of applications like Word.

    Hi
Sorry, but I'm not sure what your question is really asking.

When I right click the desktop, under NEW I have "Microsoft Word Document", is this what you want?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Hi Dave
That 'New' is a whole different ball game from the 'New Destop Item' under Active Desktop. That's why I was a bit puzzled by what the question was actually asking. When New MS Word Document is clicked, a document appears on the desktop, which then has to be clicked to open Word. I assumed he could do this, but was after something more.

    Cheers
