Message asking for login?

I have a sender that, whenever I reply to something they have sent, asks me to log in. I asked them, and they are clueless, and say they haven't had anyone else with this issue.

What might be triggering this locally on my machine at send time?

Hi Chuck,

Do you have multiple email accounts?
If they send the email to account A, your email program could want to send the reply through the outgoing mail server belonging to that account.
If that is set up incorrectly, a mail login popup will show.

Review the email recipient (=you), and verify that your outbound mail settings for that account (as sender) are correct.

Thanks...except that the login info that is asked for is for the site where the e-mail is coming from. It HAS to be something at their end -- but I am told that nobody else has said anything about this sort of thing happening...

Truly! Especially since it seems that I can just "escape out" and send the e-mail anyway.
