    Rock Xtreme 770 -Dead

Not sure where to start with this.

Connect to power and power up, blue power light come on together with orange battery light. Nothing else at all.

Take battery out, connect to power and power up, blue power light comes on. Nothing else at all.

No other lights, no noise it just sits there defying me to do something.

Can anybody suggest a starting point or has anybody had a similar experience?

    Thanks

You could have started by telling those who have never heard of this firm (not even in the UK!) that it was a gaming laptop! Here's a Trusted Review of it.

It sounds a bit like the power supply. Is there any sign/noise of a fan running? I suspect it's a job for the menders. Is it still under warranty? Have you tried Rock's technical support chaps?

Rock no longer exist. The Company were taken over by another Company called Storm. The 770 model appears to have been produced by a Company called Clevo. I didn't realise that it being a laptop produced for gaming made any difference. The so called help desk are not interested and just say send it back (It is out of Warranty)

Just to clarify, Nothing starts, no fan, no lights, bar those previously mentioned, no HDD No noise at all. Dead as a dodo. Power is clearly going in but that is about it

Sounds like it might be a power jack connection issue with the motherboard. Its a common problem with some laptops.

Hence my suggestion that it might be a problem with the power supply. If the company isn't interested, maybe a nearby independent computer shop (no, not PC World) might be able to give a hands-on diagnosis?

    Thanks that's worth a look,
There is no service manual for these but I will open her up and dig around, power jack is nice and firm from the outside and power light does come on and also the battery light as said previously but there may be an issue with the jack. Local "specialists" that I have tried for other issues with different laptops (mainly the kids) have been total rubbish and really shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a computer. At least I can change a screen, power jack, memory, keyboard etc etc

You could try calling back and finding someone who is interested. Sometimes you just get the bad apple in the bunch and need to try again.
The company who made the computer will likely be the best ones to deal with any issues from their own hardware.

Have checked the power Jack and no problem there. Also tried phoning back, different person., not interested. Send it in, we will repair it and tell you how much it costs. Definitely would not buy any machine from these people
