Connecting to wireless network at work

I am trying to connect my laptop to the wireless network at work. I get a connection to the network, but I do not get Internet access. Since our IT person left, it has fallen on me to maintain the network. I know very little about networks. I don't understand if the other computers connected to the network get internet access, how come my laptop doesn't?

I suppose this has happened a few times, not just one and you haven't been able to solve it?
What operating system are you using?

I am using Windows 7.

Do you connect to other wireless networks elsewhere? When it happens, have you tried to disable the adapter and then re-enable it?

I would have a look at the set up of the other computers that do work.
Open a Command Prompt and type "ipconfig /all" on both machines and post the results here.
Check if a proxy has been set in Internet Explorer.
Do you know what OS the server runs?
What sort of internet service do you have?
