How to remove a Reference Type in MS Word 2007

I want to remove a Reference Type in MS Word 2007. Standard Reference Types are "Numbered Item", "Heading", "Bookmark", "Footnote", "Table", "Figure", etc. But somehow I have an extra, unwanted Type I'll call "Junk". I want to remove it...anyone know how?

If the reference type was added as a new caption label, you can remove it in the insert caption dialog by clicking the delete label button while the unwanted label is in the caption box.

Perfect! That did the trick, thanks. I added a dummy figure, followed your advice, then removed the figure and the unwanted Reference Type was no longer.
