.NET update failure

Hi all/
I have an ongoing problem with 4 updates all related to Net Framework which download and to all intents & purposes install getting a notification window informing me that the installs were all successful.
However a few minutes later up pops the icon informing me that there are updates available and you've guessed it, it's the same 4 listed here:
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2633880)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 x86 (KB2633870)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 x86 (KB2656351)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2656352
I am on XP Pro with SP3.
This has been going on for some time. I have tried Microsoft 'Fixit' and various suggestions obtained online and have downloaded each one and installed it manually with exactly the same result.

Your suggestions will be gratefully received.

Are they really not installed? If you check Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs, with the Show Updates option checked, are they on the list?

many thanks for your swift reply.
I did as you suggested (I didn't know about the 'Show updates' option.) and yes they are on that list.
KB2633870 is shown but is not dated
KB2656352 is shown with an installation date of 30/12/11
KB2633880 is also show installed on 15th/2/12
KB2656351 is also shown but undated.
The question obviously that I have got to ask is why on a daily basis are these four are still coming up as 'updates are ready for your computer'

Hi Tell,

If they are recorded as having been installed, I would simply hide the ones being offered and that should spare you any further problems.

Does that mean the ones that actually have an install date or the 4 of them?
How do I 'hide' them?
I forgot to mention that I have Belarc Advisor installed and that it is permanently showing the same four as missing critical updates.

I was thinking about the 4 updates, but before doing that, can you open windows update, choose review update history and then check the status of each update in there?

Yep ~ found them!
they are shown with repeated varying instal dates. The latest successful being yesterday 5th April.
Previous 30/12 on 2656352~ 15/2 on 2633880
To all intents and purposes they are installed yet I permanently have the 'there are updates etc' in the taskbar and yes, it's the same four

I would just hide them, then. To hide each of them, right click the one to hide and choose hide from the menu.

No, hide the ones that are being offered again.

I think that I have got there ~
right clicking didn't bring anything up at all but what I did was to untick each one declining the update and put a tick in the box "do not show these updates again"
Have I got there in fact?

Yes, it seems you did. I apologize, I now only run XP in virtual machines and I honestly didn't remember that there was a difference to how it was done in XP vs. 7. I am glad you sorted it, though.
