I have a friend that has a Vista desktop computer. All of his desktop icons have disappeared. Can you advise me what could cause this? He can still access IE and e-mail. Just no icons.

Try this - Right click on the desktop, click on "View", make sure "Show desktop icons" is checked.

You can also Right Click and select Personalize, then select Desktop Icons. This is where you select the default desktop icons.
