    drivers vanish then come back?

on this presario c700 notebook, the alps touchpad driver.

the touchpad works fine a while, then stops working. then works again. when it's not working, It appears the driver? vanishes in device manager... and the special settings in the control panel> mouse also vanish.

    then they come back. ???

not sure how to fix this or what is going on? I see no errors in device manager...

any ideas? I ran windows update and it installed the update to the touchpad... but I still cant' help to think it's a driver issue?

Could be a hardware issue - bad connection. When the connection fails Windows will remove the device driver.

Is there a key shortcut that disables the touchpad that you might hit accidentally? Otherwise, I suspect you have a intermittent hardware connection issue.
