Outlook will not close down

In the last couple of weeks each time I click on the X button to close Outlook 2007 it apears to close then I get a Microsoft message to say there is a problem which is being investigated then Outlook reopens. I am usually trying to get to the point where I can switch off the PC and walk away.

I am also having recurent 'not responding' problems with both Office products and Internet explorer and I don't understand why or what to do to stop it!

I have Windows 7, Office Professional 2007 is anyone else having these problems?

Have you tried running Outlook with add-ins disabled (hold down the CTRL key when starting Outlook)?
