    A curious prblem with Eudora

When I receive e-mail I get some curious typos in the incoming mail. For instance, instead of "isn't" the word appears as isn’t. "Doesn't" appears as doesn’t.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Hi David, try typing the words that show as errors in a test send email with the spell checker set to 'As you type'. I don't use Eudora but this is how it looks in WLM.

Thanks for your reply. The problem isn't with e-mails I wrtie, it's only in those that I receive, and not even in all of them. What's even weirder is that e-mails from the same person, sent from the same computer, sometimes have these extraordinary spellings and sometimes they're perfectly normal. Must be something to do with the coding, but how the code for apostrophe can be turned into three separate characters, each of which would be very difficult to type in the normal way. I doubt that Tam o' Shanter would have had this problem!

Yes I can write it okay, and when I send myself an e-mail, from G-mail for instance, it shows up just fine in Eudora. But sometimes when I receive messages they come out garbled. A line like this, "It's not what I'd written..." Comes out as: It€™s not what I€™d written..."
When there are several apostrophes in a paragraph it's like breaking a code!

’ is an oldie but goodie first perfected by Fred Langa nine years ago :

typo characters rather than apostrophe in email

    HTML Oddities

Someone somewhere is sometimes using "curly" apostrophes.

Just tell them to straighten up!
