Storage Folders disappeared

This is my first message to the Forum. I have Woody's 800 page Dummy's
tome which I have been reading avidly. As you can guess I am a newbie
who is not comfortable with some/much jargon.
Here's a problem I recently encountered after upgrading from Vista to
Windows 7 and from Windows Mail to Windows Live.
I imported all my Folders from Mail (about 50) and decided to delete
some of the older ones from my least used Mailbox (I have three). At
that point ALL the Folders disappeared never to be seen again!
I have some important stuff in those Folders so I'm desperate. Can
anyone help?

Hi Lochinvar,

I'm not certain whether this will work, but try importing messages. Open Windows Live Mail, click the down arrow on the left at the top of the window and select Import Messages. Then select Windows Live Mail as the format to import messages from and click next. If the location of the message store is not shown then browse to C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail and highlight that folder (not any of the sub-folders) to select it. I am not sure whether you will have to recreate the actual storage folders, but I am pretty sure the import takes care of that.

For what it's worth, bear in mind that Windows Live Mail restricts the number of characters for folder names to 15, inclusive of any spaces. (Don't ask me why).

Roy, thank you for the helpful advice. As I said, I am just getting used to Windows Mail Live! and dabbling around in some of the background my Folders suddenly appeared! I think they somehow got hidden. I changed their title to sub-folders and tucked them in under my mailboxes. Everything is now back to "normal" whatever that is.

Do I need to post Resolved or Thanks somewhere?
