Battery won't charge in Acer A0A150.

I have an acer aspire aoa150 and the battery wont charge. Windows Xp, puts a red X over it . I have tried every thing, from updating the bios to a clean windows install. The orignal battery was about 4 years old so it was about gone. I bought a new battery and used it a few days and I turned it off at 50% battery level when I was done and went to turn it on the next day and it would only turn on on the mains. What do I do to fix it?

Do you still have a warranty on the new bat?
Is the new bat recomended by the laptop's manufacturer?
Has the laptop been dropped or rough handled?

Remove to battery from the laptop and reinstall it, ensure that it is making contact and that the surfaces are clean, then attempt recharge once agian.

already tried all of that. I ordered a new battery from amazon and I will tell you guys if that works.

Got the new battery from amazon and it worked. I will not let it drain completely because that's what screwed me up.
