If you have a Windows Live ID i.e. a Hotmail account, you can get upgraded to 25gb free by logging-in to your account and selecting SkyDrive.

2012-04-24 13:39NOTE: If you have a Live-ID, hotmail account, or MSN account they are all called a Microsoft account now. You already had a 25GB SkyDrive storage space available. You need to access the account as Roderunner specified as opt-in to keep the 25GB otherwise sometime in the near future you will be downgraded to a 7GB storage space that all NEW users get.

I just did the upgrade to 25GB. It was showing only 7GB available. It was very easy to do the FREE upgrade to 25GB.
