    PATCH WATCH

Time to sweep out a few of the leftover patches

    By Susan Bradley

We get another breather from new Windows and application fixes, giving us time to review some past problem patches.

Perhaps Redmond is too busy coding Windows 8 to find new things to fix in earlier Windows versions.

The full text of this column is posted at windowssecrets.com/patch-watch/time-to-sweep-out-a-few-of-the-leftover-patches/ (opens in a new window/tab).

Columnists typically cannot reply to comments here, but do incorporate the best tips into future columns.

    Patchwatch format

Puting the patchwatch summary in boxes is a great improvement from the previous format. Thanks - it makes it much easier to use.

I have a suggestion that might make it even more useful.

Since the new box format keeps the items clearly separated, the light blue color alternates are not really all that necessary.

However, a pastel red, orange and green (for wait, optional and OK) across the entire line would make it even user friendly for those of us with declining eyesight (and maybe everybody else).
