    Removing old OS files

My wife has an old Dell D620 notebook computer. It originally had Win2000 OS, but some time ago WinXP was installed. No real effort was made to remove any Win2000 files, other than what might have been removed or overwritten installing XP.

My question is simply put as follows: Is there any way -- manually or with some software app -- that can be used to remove the old Win2000 files on the computer?

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Lounge!!

Since XP was installed as an upgrade the upgrade process would've overwritten the Win2K files. If there are left over files it would be very difficult to identify them. What makes you think there are Win2k files on the PC?

I prepared a detailed reply to your question, but the SYSTEM said I did not have permission to post and promptly lost my reply. And I am not going to spend the time again to make a detailed response. Sorry.

20 GB of a 36 GB drive are taken by XP and a small number of APPS. And Norton NIS says it scans over 1x10**6 files.
