    Microsoft Outlook rules not working?

    Dear Sir,

I got a lot of junk emails. I have set up rules to move these junk emails to the junk mail folder. All the rules are not working. Is there anything else to set before the rules can apply.

I am using the software from Microsoft Home and Office 2010.

    Thanks.

    Paul Cheuk.

Are you using the Outlook JUnk email filter?

Do any of the rules work?

Do you have a "stop Processing" with each rule?

Is there a pattern to what works and what doesn't?

    Dear Joe,

None of the rules work. I don't know what is "stop processing". Is that something I have to set for each rule?

    Paul.

Can you post a screenshot of one of the rules? Be sure to edit out any proprietary information.

    Dear joe,

Here is a screenshot for your information. This is my first time putting a screenshot in this. I don't know whether you can see clearly. I just set up the rule to move the mail to the Junk mail folder when the subject of the mail contains "the subject text".

Can you use just "Celebrity Cruises Promotion" or some other shorter variation?

When you build a rule if you use the "Advanced Options" button you can select multiple steps to perform when a message meets your criteria. Near the bottom of the list is "Stop processing more rules". Even though a message meets the criteria for one rule Outlook will continue to process all your rules if the "stop processing..." step is not present. So, you could have some unintended consequences. That option should be added to any and all rules where you do not want any more rules to be evaluated once a message has met the criteria for a rule.

    Outlook Rules Limit

Rules will stop working when you hit the size limit that Microsoft set (32k). This includes names of rules.

This limit can be inclreased but I don't know how.
